A soldier standing behind a stone wall in a desert landscape with palm trees, with a goat resting on the rocks nearby.
A man with short dark hair, glasses, and a beard, wearing a gray collared shirt, sitting indoors in front of a framed poster or sign on the wall.

George Erik Taylor

You were our wild card, full throttle

Intense and loud, opinions strong

The man who did it all and knew it all

Genuine and real, absolutely no fear

You loved to be offensive, unorthodox

Erik’s Story

Erik. Geo. Taylor. No matter for what, no matter when, you called him, he showed up. For his family, his friends, for strangers, and for his country.

George Erik Taylor proudly served his country for 20+ years in the Marines and Coast Guard. During his years of service, he completed numerous tours to include Bahrain, Africa, Afghanistan and Iraq. He saw more than his fair share of combat. He was highly decorated and was seen by many as someone to rely on. For his valiant acts during one of his deployments, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was also recognized by the Navy, while in the Coast Guard, for his acts of servitude during a deployment. Erik never talked about his deployments. And his infectious laughter and smile hid his battle wounds oh too well. Erik was a hero, though he never accepted the title.

Erik was a servant leader and a patriot, he loved his country. He knew how to put in a hard days work. He had mad mechanical skills, an amazing sense of humor, he was unorthodox, marched to the beat of his own drum, hard to beat at euchre, and was the king of trivia. He was a proud father of two beautiful girls, an uncle, a brother, a son, and a friend to many. He could be whatever you needed him to be, except be there for himself.

Erik left this earth on a dark day in June 2024, but his legacy will live on. G.E.T. (George Erik Taylor) HOPE was founded to bring hope, camaraderie, and connection to veterans in our community, something Erik did not feel that evening. He is in a better place, but so dearly missed. We love you Erik. Rest in Peace.
